Grand Piano Marathon, Merkin Concert Hall, New York
Igal Kesselman made his American debut performing Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto with Washington Chamber Symphony in the John F. Kennedy Center Concert Hall. He has performed recitals and chamber music concerts in such venues as Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center of New York, Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C. and Kravitz Center in West Palm Beach. He also performed in concert series in Baltimore, Chicago, Miami, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Geneva, Manaus, Warsaw, Krakow and Rome and has appeared in chamber music concerts in international music festivals, including Sarasota Music Festival in Florida, Aspen Music Festival in Colorado and Ravinia Music Festival in Chicago.
Mr. Kesselman was a top prizewinner at “Citta de Marsala” International Piano Competition in Italy and has been a recipient of America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarships. He has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Israel Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Israeli Camerata and Palermo Symphonic Orchestra. He also recorded several recitals for Israeli National Radio and appeared on Polish National Radio and Television.
An active chamber music collaborator, he has performed with some of the leading European and American artists, such as Michel Lethiec, Aurele Nicolet, Alain Meunier, Ilia Kaler and Roberto Diaz. He has coached, performed and conducted Masterclasses at important Chamber Music Festivals, such as Pablo Casals Music Festival in Prades, France, Heifetz Music Festival in Annapolis, Maryland and European Mozart Academy in Poland.
A native of Moscow, Igal Kesselman began his studies at the Preparatory Division of the Moscow Conservatory. He received his B.M. degree, cum laude, from S. Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv, and his M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. His teachers have included Yoheved Kaplinsky, Emanuel Krasovsky and Irina Zaritskaya.
Mr. Kesselman serves as a Director of Lucy Moses School at Kaufman Center in New York City, where he also teaches piano and chamber music.
